Applied Practice is the only publisher of supplemental teaching workbooks created specifically to integrate standardized test preparation and 6-12th grade core subject curriculum in one easy-to-use product. We offer supplemental curriculum for three types of classrooms: advanced, regular-to-advanced, and regular.

For advanced courses, such as Pre-AP/AP, IB, and Honors programs, we offer resources in the Pre-AP/AP* format for English, Science and Social Studies. These workbooks contain challenging multiple-choice and free-response questions that have the look and feel of an Advanced Placement test. The content covered in each workbook is specific to either a literary selection (English) or a unit-based topic (Science and Social Studies). Additional teaching aids such as vocabulary lists, strategies for teaching, detailed answer explanations, and graphic organizers, are also included.
Regular-to-Advanced Classrooms

For regular-to-advanced courses with college-readiness goals, we offer English resources in three formats: SAT*, ACT*, and Core Skills PLUS. The SAT* and ACT* workbooks contain questions styled after these specific college entrance exams. Correlations to the College Readiness Standards are included in our ACT* guides. Core Skills PLUS is designed to meet the needs of teachers and students who prefer exposure to a variety of standardized question styles. These resource guides include practices in AP*, ACT* and SAT* formats, as well as Core Skills reading and writing practices utilizing paired passages, Cloze passages, reading for information, graphic organizers, and more. All questions in the Core Skills PLUS books are correlated to the Common Core State Standards.

For regular courses working toward state proficiency goals, we offer English resources in six state formats as well as the Core Skills PLUS version for all states. These workbooks include questions styled after specific question formats used in state-mandated skills tests, while covering content from a specific literary work. Currently, we offer state proficiency-style workbooks for high schools in the following formats: CAHSEE for California, FCAT for Florida, OGT for Ohio, SOL for Virginia, PSSA for Pennsylvania, and TAKS for Texas. For all other states, we recommend our Core Skills PLUS series, which includes an array of question styles suitable for reviewing basic skills with additional practices for college readiness and advanced challenges. The Core Skills PLUS guides include correlations to the Common Core State Standards.
For middle school classrooms with state proficiency goals, we offer additional titles in two versions: CORE SKILLS Reading, with correlations to the Common Core State Standards; and TAKS Reading for Texas with correlations to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Middle school workbooks are available for literary works such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer; Tangerine; The Watsons Go to Birmingham, and other titles frequently found on 6-8th grade reading lists.
